24 Weeks!

I had my 24 week appointment today (12/3).  You know, the fun one, where you get to have a cocktail!  Well, okay, so it's the sugar loaded glucose screen one.  I chose the orange one this time.  Not bad and we should know the results soon.  Anyways, I say it was fun because I had to drink that stuff in the lab, then go up to my appointment, and then return to the lab for my blood draw all while entertaining 2 1/2 year old.

I would call it a success!  Lauren was wonderful and oh so curious.  She always wants to know what's going on and even why.  They gave me 3-5 minutes to drink my cocktail.  I downed it in less than 2 minutes.  And it only took me 2 minutes because I had to explain to Lauren that she couldn't have some too.  (I just said that it was medicine for mommy).  Then, we walked up to my appointment; the elevator is always a hit!  She waited oh so nicely with me in the waiting room and then in the treatment room.  (I had a snack and a coloring book.)  Then when the midwife was in, Lauren watched persistently and wanted to know what was going on.  She liked listening to her brother and hearing his heart beat.  It was in the 140s and he sounds great according to the midwife.  I'm also measuring 25, so who knows maybe I won't go 11 days over my due date like I did with Lauren.  I guess I wouldn't care anyways as long as he's healthy!  After my appointment, Lauren and I headed back down to the lab so they could draw some blood from me.  We ended up having to wait in the waiting room until my timer went off.  Lauren did great again; although she was getting a bit noisy and restless.  Finally, we heard the "ding" and headed back.  Lauren once again watched intently as they took my blood and then SHE got a sticker for being such a good girl.

Lauren has been a great big sister already!  She loves to give her baby brother kisses and hugs on my tummy.  We are so blessed and LOVE every minute of her.  We're excited to add a little brother to the mix.  Thanks for checking in!

UPDATE 12/7:  So far, I have not heard any results regarding my glucose screen.  I'm guessing no news is good news!  Hooray!
