I'm proud God chose me as her mom. She's becoming so independent; it's hard to sometimes believe that she's not even 3 1/2 yet! Here's what she's up to:
1. She's told numerous people that she wants to paint her room yellow. (We tell her maybe someday.) I guess yellow's her favorite color.
2. She can dress herself from head to toe by herself (if she wants too)! This doesn't always happen, but mostly.
3. She brushes her own teeth. Her dentist even said that they look good. (I did not mention that she does it herself!) I do get one or two times in per week just for quality control, but she does pretty good without us.
4. She LOVES to color and has started staying in the lines.
5. She recognizes all the letters in her name plus others (in capital form). She can also form the "L", "A", "U", and "N" in 3-year-old form!
6. She has learned many colors and shapes too.
7. She frequently requests to go to Culvers or to have mac n cheese and salmon for supper. Those must be favorite foods.
8. She is very creative when it comes to playing and plays well independently. She has made her bed into a car and belted her "babies" in their car seats to go to the mall or take them to kidstuff (at the YMCA).
9. She LOVES to dance. Currently she's taking ballet and will use the appropriate vocabulary that I'm not always sure what it means!
10. She thinks she needs to wear skirts or dresses that spin when she dances.
11. Which brings me to another cute, but annoying thing: changing clothes ALREADY?! She goes through about 3-5 outfits/day. Sometimes she even has different jammies on in the am than the one I saw her in at bedtime! (Sometimes I find dirty clothes in her dresser. YUCK!) Oh well, at least she's cleaning up after herself.
12. Cleaning...yep, she's very helpful. Lauren helps me dust, fold laundry, clean the bathroom, set the table, clear the table, and feed the dogs. Ever since she figured out the "childproofing" stuff at just over 2 year, I have recruited her to help. If I can't keep her out of it, I'd best teach her what it's for right? We have VERY strict rules when it comes to cleaning and she does well with following them.
13. She started Sunday School and LOVES it. She's so proud to say that she can go to school. She even sang me one of the songs she learned at Sunday School while we were driving to the gym yesterday. It was "God is so good."
14. She started swimming lessons again. She does really well swimming with something like a noodle. I know that she CAN do it by herself; however, she's a little fearful. She will be taking "Pike" again to get more comfortable with swimming alone even though the instructor said that she's able.
15. She follows a sticker chart to keep her in her own bed. However, she knows and will still ask if she can come snuggle for a little while. (We're working on having her wait until morning and she's doing quite well.)
16. She's starting to give up naps and takes them about 50% of the time on my days off. Some days we just have "quiet time" and she can watch a movie or read books.
17. She LOVES being a big sister and is really helpful with her BIG sister jobs like taking diapers to the garbage, getting diapers, and getting Nolan clean clothes. Nolan loves her too...she can really get him to giggle.
18. She plays games like "Don't break the ice", Memory, Princess Yahtzee, and Pretty Pretty Princess. She does well with turn taking and following the rules.
19. She sometimes doesn't want to do things because "It'll take for longer." Like putting on her own shoes or buckeling her own carseat.
20. She loves going out to eat. We recently took her to Buffalo Wild Wings. She liked it and called it "Buffalo Butterfly Wings". So cute!
She's our almost 3 1/2 year old! We LOVE her dearly and can't imagine life without her. She keeps us on our toes. It's amazing how busy one 3-year-old can be. I find it hard to fathom what it will be like with TWO kiddos in activities! I enjoy every minute though.
