Church:
We went to the 9:30 service with Grandpa John, Grandma Marilyn, and Aunt Alyssa. Because we knew the church would be packed, we went early. Grandpa and Grandma got seats, but we still went to sit down too early (9:15ish). At the end of the first song, Lauren responded spontaneously "Are we done?" The ladies behind us heard and laughed. She preceeded to say that after every song and also demonstrated her motor skills by attempting to jump off the pew and run down the aisle. She requested going potty once, but didn't really go. I think she's learned how to get what she wants by using that excuse! Lauren didn't quite make it to communion and Daddy took her out to run in the hallway. After communion, I joined them and we left because Lauren was done. (I couldn't expect more from a toddler.) After all, she stayed with us for well over an hour. We didn't leave until 10:45.
Lauren's first exposure to Easter eggs was with Grandma Marilyn. Lauren got some in her Easter basket. She had fun cracking them and then peeling the shells, but was not too excited about the taste.
On Saturday morning, Lauren had fun dying Easter eggs with Mommy's extended family. She had fun choosing colors and dipping eggs in. I think her favorite color must be yellow. It was time well spent with family. Those participating included: Sharon, Aunt Mary, Aunt Cindy, Aunt Judy, Cousin Destiny, Cousin Alec, Mommy, and Grandma Bonnie. Aunt Cindy and Aunt Judy even made "Easter fingers"!
Lauren went on two Easter egg hunts. The first was at Grandma Bonnie and Grandpa Dave's. Lauren went on a hunt to find real eggs with Destiny. In the end, she preferred helping the adults re-hide the eggs instead of looking for some. The second Easter egg hunt was at Grandpa Bruce and Grandma Sandi's. Lauren had fun playing with Cousin Rayna in their yard. The girls looked for plastic eggs. This time, Lauren actually found eggs by herself, even ones hid in more difficult locations which were for the older girls. However, when she found them, she had fun throwing them verses putting them in her bucket. I know she had fun, but maybe next year she'll get the idea of an Easter egg hunt.
Happy Easter!
