Little Ballerina!

This weekend (May 19th), Lauren had her first dance recital along with the rest of her classmates (6 total including 2 neighbor friends).  It all started Friday evening with dress rehearsal.  She loved putting her tutu, ballet shoes, and makeup on, as well as curling her hair!  Dress rehearsal went much like dance class...only they had their fancy $60 tutus on...and I would like to think that is CHEAP for a tutu (or so I've been told!)  We got to Shakopee Junior High and hung out taking pictures until we went to sit in the auditorium.  The girls were second to rehearse their number...Music Box Dancer.  Lauren tended watch Reegan rather than her teachers and as usual.  There is also a part in the dance where the dancers actually leave their "spot" and run in a circle around the stage...Lauren and Reegan are then supposed to switch boxes; however, that has NEVER happened!  Anyways, they did their number two times and of course LOVED it.  After that it was home to eat supper and settle down.  (Which was hard, because Grandma Marilyn and Grandma Bonnie came to spend the night!)

Then came show day...we hung out doing various activities in the am and made sure Nolan got a nap, since the recital was scheduled from 2-4pm (Nolan's usual nap time).  Grandma Bonnie, Lauren, and I headed to the junior high first.  We arrived on time and took more pictures and did more waiting.  Lauren was able to watch the first part of the recital with us because her class was near the middle/end.  She enjoyed watching the show and then it was her turn....her class did the best they had ever performed!  Drum roll please....INCLUDING Lauren and Reegan switching "boxes" like they were supposed to, but NEVER had!  It was so cute...(They wouldn't allow video because you have to purchase the professional one.)  Don't worry, we did...we were THOSE parents...gotta have her FIRST recital on video!  Then, when we moms met them back stage after their performance, they were already requesting to go again!  LOL...all of them.  They wanted an encore...so I guess it went off without a hitch and I'll probably find myself at more dance recitals in the years to come.  Oh, and of course spending more money...wowzers, who knew dance for a 3-year-old could be expensive...I hear it only gets worse!  It's totally worth it though; I've seen her gain so much as a person...self-confidence, social skills, and balance!  AND that's the short list!  :)

At rehearsal the evening before.

Waiting her turn with the rest of the neighbor girls!
