Lauren has been requesting to cut all weekend. It's Sunday night, so I figured I'd let her try while we were waiting for supper to finish cooking. I'm actually impressed as to how well she actually knew what to do with the scissors. We talked about cutting..."open" "shut" "open" "shut" or "open" "close" "open" "close". We talked about holding the paper with her left hand and the scissors with her right hand. We also talked about being careful (safety first you know). Obviously we need to buy a children's safety scissors! Then, Lauren got busy cutting with mommy right by her side. She did lots of cutting before supper and then had a longer attention span for cutting than mommy after supper. She spent 1/2 hour cutting before she wanted to do something else! Lauren even tried cutting on the lines.
(Side note: good use for old calendars is practicing cutting!)
