Lately, Lauren has been learning all of the time and has a HUGE desire to do things her own way by herself! It's hard to believe that our baby is no longer a baby, but rather a toddler. At 20 months, she's closer to 2 than 1! Lauren talks non-stop using up to 3-word sentences. She lets us know what she wants. Her independence is VERY important to her. Here are ways that Lauren is becoming independent as written through her words.
1. I love to eat oranges, but it's even better when I get to peel them and pull the slices apart.
2. I like to cut my own food with my fork too.
3. Mommy taught me how to fold laundry. I can do daddy's underwear and washclothes by myself.
4. I brush my own teeth. First, I find my toothbrush and toothpaste. Then I twist off the cap from my toothpaste. Next I squeeze it on the brush (sometimes I need mommy's help). Then I brush my teeth and spit. If mommy's lucky, I let her have a turn but I like to do it myself!
5. I help feed Sophie and Charlie. I dump the food in their dishes and carry it back to their table. I like to give them treats too. I hold the bag. They can have lots of treats if its up to me. They are such good puppies most of the time.
6. I ask mommy and daddy to call grandma and grandpa. I like to talk on the phone. Grandma and grandpa ask me questions and I answer. Then I say bye.
7. I like to go potty on the big girl potty. Most of the time, I poop in the potty. Sometimes I'm still wet in my diaper. I just get too busy and forget about the potty sometimes. I get to wear big girl panties too...I like to choose between Disney Princesses and Dora on my pull ups.
8. I like to take my own clothes off. One time, I thought I'd surprise mommy. When she came home from work, I had all my clothes off. I did it myself! Then I went potty myself too! I'm a big girl and I can do it myself.
9. I like to read my books. My favorite is Goodnight Gorilla. I turn the pages and make up my stories just like mommy does.
10. I like to pick out my own jammies. Yesterday, mommy picked out Santa ones. Hello, its not Christmas anymore! I put those back and chose Dora instead. Get with the style mom...Santa was so December and its Februrary now! Tonight, mommy just let me go to my jammies drawer and open it. Then I chose my bunny jammies.
11. I let mommy put piggytails in my hair. Then I tell her to put a pony in her hair too. Fixing my hair is fun.
12. I want to sleep in a different bed. Lately, at naptime and bedtime, I ask mommy "different bed?" and point to the big girl bed in my room or sometimes I take a chance and ask for "different bed?" and point to mommy and daddy's room. I have tried to sleep in my big girl bed, but then I like to get out and play too.
That's all for now. Here's some Lauren kisses.
